Dangerous Toys for Kids-2020
With the holiday season around the corner, we need to increase awareness of toy dangers. World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (W.A.T.C.H.) recently released its list of the Worst 10 Toys of 2020.
Where to find: Walmart, Kohls, Amazon Hazard: Labeled for children ages 3+. Several small parts may be choking hazards for young children.²

Hazard: Labeled for ages 5+. There is potential for eye/facial damage. There is no warning on the toy for potential eye or facial hazards.²
Where to find: Kmart, Amazon, Walmart
Hazard: Labeled for ages 5+. Warning label lists not to hit or swing at people or animals. There is a potential for eye or facial injuries.²
Where to find: Home Goods, Amazon, The Paper Source, Saks Fifth Avenue
Hazard: Labeled for ages 12+ months. Includes a warning for under 12 months due to course fabric and fiber shredding. There is a potential for ingestion and aspiration injuries.²

Hazard: Labeled for ages 3+. Includes a warning for adult supervision and notes that they are not to be used as a protective device. There are no warnings for blunt force or impact injury potential.²

Hazard: Labeled for ages 10+. Includes a warning for the misuse of harmful chemicals and not to be used unless under adult supervision. There are various warnings on the box and package inserts for the included chemicals and ingredients. The zinc sulfide pouch warns that its contents “may cause eye, skin, and respiratory irritation. Harmful if swallowed…”²

Hazard: Labeled for ages 8+. Includes a warning to keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from the propeller, but then the manufacturer encourages the users to play catch with the propeller and perform stunts and tricks.²

Hazard: Labeled for ages 4+. Includes a warning for not playing sounds close to the ear as well as not aiming at eyes or face. Also includes a warning not to launch vehicle at people or animals. Numerous warnings for potential damage to the eyes and face.²

Hazard: Labeled for ages 2+. There are no warnings on the box. The set comes with small accessories including a rigid plastic spoon that is 2 3/4 “ long for hazardous swallowing and airway obstruction potential.²

Hazard: Labeled for ages 4+. Includes a warning not to swing, poke, or jab at people or animals and other package warnings. There is a potential for facial or other impact injuries.²
